In the interest of being more driven, goal oriented, organized, and ambitious I've decided to come up with a list of things that I'd like to accomplish this semester. To keep it interesting not all of them are school related, some are just for fun. I tend to not think of these like new years resolutions because those I almost feel like I couldn't keep because so few people do. I'm posting them on here because I'm more likely to keep them if I share them.

    - Get a decent grade in my third semester Latin class.
    - Get off of scholarship probation.
    - Go iceskating for the first time.
    - Become more open and vulnerable with people. I'm not very good at letting even my friends get too close to me.
    - Try a martini.
    - Show up to work more regularly. ( I love my job, but it's so flexible that it's easy to just not go in.)
    - Figure out some sort of exercise that I can do regularly that I enjoy.
    - Eat at Saga as little as possible.
    - Keep my room clean and organized!
    - Find a church I actually like.
    - Smoke a pipe.
    - Have a job for christmas break.

I'm sure I'll think of more later, but for now this is it.

I am here in the house by myself for roughly a week. Thus, I have a lot of time to fill and I need some recommendations. Give me your favorite authors, books, and movies. I encourage both fiction and non-fiction. I am a voracious reader so make as many suggestions as you please! Currently, I'm working on Brighton Rock by Graham Greene and Hocus Pocus by Kurt Vonnegut. I promise a real entry after this. I have no excuse for not posting one that's for sure.

Please do both. I'm really curious. And don't worry I won't hold anything against anyone :-). If you're uncomfortable with using your real name you can use a psuedonym. I'm not the best judge of myself so whatever you say can only help me.

Real entry to come later...at least that's the plan.

    Post a reply and I'll:
    1. I'll respond with something random I like about you.
    2. I'll tell you what song/movie reminds me of you.
    3. I'll name something we should do together.
    4. I'll say something that only makes sense to you and me (or just me).
    5. I'll tell you my first/clearest memory of you.
    6. I'll leave you a quote that is somehow appropriate to you.
    7. I'll ask you something that I've always wondered about you.
    8. If I do this for you, you must post this on your journal so you can do the same for (myself and) other people

Today was actually halfway decent and mildly entertaining. And I even spent it SHOPPING (which I typically hate). My mom, my sister, and myself set out for the great city of Ann Arbor today. The first stop was lunch at Mongolian BBQ. It was a good choice if I do say so myself. They have some of the friendliest staff that I've ever experienced at a restaurant. I'm talking friendly in the non-flirty cool waiter manner. The guy who grilled my food has been working there for four years and apparently is so good at his job that they sent him to Mongolia to help open a franchise there. Does it seem weird to anyone else that they're opening an Mongolian BBQ in Mongolia. That's kind of like opening a Fazoli's in Italy.

After the food we went walking around Ann Arbor attempting to go shopping. That didn't last very long because it was cold out and Mom's getting sick, plus she can't really keep up with my sister and I very well. To prevent a repeat of the Toronto disaster (where Mom sprained her ankle and blames it on me because she' can't remember how it happened, I was again "walking too fast") we hopped back in the car and headed over to Briarwood Mall. Once again I tried shopping for a formal gown to wear at Hillsdale functions, one again I failed for two reasons. If you can't guess what those two reasons are then you've obviously never seen me. Anyway, I got a lot of exercise and managed to have a shopping experience that ended in a headache. All in all a good day.

So I finally caved and actually got a LJ that I might update. MIGHT being the important word in that sentence. I've had one of these before, but now I pretty much use it to check other friend's Livejournals and prefer not to update it because certain individuals know the username that I don't want reading it. I'm sure all of you wanted to know that.

Anyway, break has been quite nice thus far. I got back Friday and watched movies with my family and then went to bed. Got up Saturday at the glorious hour of 10 o'clock and spent the day cooking and cleaning and then hanging out with my sister. Today was pretty much the same except I added church and a shopping trip to the mix. I also met an interesting old man in Wendy's who proceeded to tell me his life story and that of his father. I think he only took a breath twice in the 15 minutes we talked in line.

I've been recently overwhelmed by the fact that good food is readily available. Unfortunately, because of Saga my instinct whenever I see good food is to eat as much as possible because I'm not sure when such an occasion will arise again. This could become a problem. I console myself with the fact that I only have to put up with one more year of Saga before I can get off campus and cook my own food regularly (I make the best omellets ever). All this typing about food has made me hungry again *sigh*.
